Import the AI writing report — rewrite only flagged continuous prose

Charles Li · HumanPen · import-report-rewrite-flagged-only

Once the Turnitin or iThenticate AI writing report is in hand, the literacy move is to import that report and rewrite only the flagged continuous-prose spans—not the whole paper, and not random unflagged neighbors.

Distinct from flagged-passages-first (priority among flagged spans), dont-wash-whole-document (refuse whole-file wash), and freeze-citations-numbers-formulas (what must stay stable). Here the point is scope of rewrite after import.

Better order

  1. Import the full AI writing report; confirm attempt identity; read the legend once.
  2. List the continuous-prose spans the report actually flagged.
  3. Rewrite those spans in place inside the DOCX—leave unflagged prose alone.
  4. Freeze citations, numbers, formulas, tables, and page layout on every edit.
  5. Re-export and re-import a fresh report before the next round.

Why this matters

Washing the whole document when only some spans are marked changes text the report never questioned and can scramble styles reviewers trust. Flagged-only keeps the draft recognizable as the same submission with limited edits.
